Job Description:
This job class exercises responsibility for the protection of Life, Environment and property through the effective performance and implementation of fire suppression, prevention, and emergency medical services. Employees assigned to this class are exposed to potentially life threatening situations that may be unpredictable in nature.
Under Supervision, fights fire, participates in fire prevention activities in protecting life, environment and property. Maintains firefighting and rescue equipment as well as stations and grounds. As well as other assigned duties
Position requirements:
Must attain age of 18 years old by date of appointment
H.S. Diploma or equivalent
California State Fire Marshall Firefighter 1 or equivalent
Current California State Paramedic License or EMT-B
Must achieve LEMSA (NORCAL) accreditation within 6 months
Current California Drivers License with clean driving record
Must achieve California DMV Firefighter endorsement within 1 year
Department Information:
Peninsula Fire Protection District is located in a rural portion on North Eastern California. Service population changes during different times of year and ranges from 1,000 in winter to 8,000+ in summer. The Department is an ALS transporting department and operates out of three stations to service an approximate area of 15 square miles. Peninsula Fire employs 11 full time and 15 part time positions.
